An amino acid precursor to nitric oxide, historically used for “pump” products before being replaced by citrulline.
What It’s Used For:
Improving blood flow and vascularity
Supporting nitric-oxide production
Typical Dose:
3–6 g pre-workout, often split for absorption
Side Effects:
Can cause stomach discomfort or diarrhoea in high doses
Why It’s Rated 1/5:
Limited absorption and weak nitric-oxide response compared to citrulline. Outdated but still occasionally used.
